The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University.
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer, the Executive Director for Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations collaborates with central and distributed IT leadership to establish technology based strategy which supports the current and future objectives of the UCI campus. Makes decisions on enterprise technology matters and ensures achievement of regular objectives. Responsible for managing and directing the IT infrastructure and operations division, plus associated service teams and enterprise functions. Reviews and approves recommendations for technology based enterprise standards, vendor partnerships, budget spending plans, plus operational planning and control. Serving in a chief technology officer function, the executive director establishes and manages a long term OIT technology investment strategy resulting in defined, formal enterprise IT standards. In addition, the incumbent will drive continuous improvement in IT support cost efficiencies and service effectiveness; create of a unified operating model for I&O service teams which all participate in the delivery of enterprise class IT end-user services; and provide leadership and executive support for Office of the CIO directives.

$137,000.00 - $321,000.00 (Annual Salary)
Required:
A minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in information technology management, preferably within complex academic institution environments.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires extensive and in-depth knowledge of Information Technology principles, theories, and concepts to manage functional area(s) and provide solutions. Requires knowledge of policies and procedures and ability to determine a course of action based on these guidelines. Clearly understands the needs and concerns of the user groups in the organization and applies knowledge to better meet those needs. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others involving project work and initiatives. Comprehensive knowledge of subject area and broad knowledge of all IT areas sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction. Thorough knowledge of supervisory and leadership techniques in managing technical staff. Experience in the management of ongoing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of suitable emerging technologies. Thorough knowledge of technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software. Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within a large and complex technical environment. Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple organizations across division, college or institutional boundaries. Demonstrated experience with senior management planning and budgeting. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to large groups and senior management with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication.
Preferred:
Advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated leadership experience in an executive position. Demonstrated experience developing and analyzing corporate strategy.
