Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston SC, is recruiting for a full time dual boarded internist/ psychiatrist to work in the Mental Health outpatient setting at the Charleston VA Mental Health Clinic. The physician will predominantly work with a homeless population of Veterans in our H-PACT (Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team) Clinic. Because of the high rate of co-morbidity issues, the physician will provide psychiatric as well as primary care services for Veterans.Salary Range: Up to $250,000 per yearSalary will be determined by a compensation panel based on experience, background and education.

Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen of the United States (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine? The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice in any state, territory or commonwealth of the United States, District of Columbia.
English Language Proficiency: Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
First-Year Residency: Completed first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed. For a VA resident, the appropriate Deans Committee and Resident Review Board may recommend appointment on the basis of the candidate's acceptability for residency training. Approved residences are:
a. Those approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals, American Medical Association, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or
b. Other residences or their equivalents which the Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. The Board may determine that the residency requirement has been met if the candidate has completed 1 year of post-graduate education.
Physical Standards: Placement in this position is subject to meeting the physical requirements of this position. Pre-placement medical examination is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Board Certification in Internal Medicine AND Psychiatry APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
