WHO WE ARE
Each year, 2 billion people across the world are limited by physical pain. By helping people live without pain, they are free to do the things they love most with the people they love—and never miss a moment. This is what we do. We create and design new technologies to solve one of the biggest problems in healthcare: taking care of our Physical Health. Sword Health is the world’s fastest growing digital musculoskeletal (MSK) care provider on a bold mission to free two billion people from acute, chronic, and post-surgical physical pain. Our customers include some of the most progressive Fortune 100 and 500 companies, as well as over +1400 other established businesses across the world.
The Sword program allows members to complete a personalized physical therapy program from the comfort of home, with continued support and supervision from one of our talented Sword specialists. Sword’s personalized care is more effective than traditional standards of care, and has proven to deliver best-in-class clinical results. Since breaking into the market less than three years ago, Sword has worked with insurers, health systems, and employers in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia to make high quality musculoskeletal care accessible to everyone.
This is an opportunity to join Sword during a time of hyper growth and expansion. After our recent $2bn valuation, we’re excited to continue accelerating our impact by scaling with high caliber people with passion, commitment and energy to create and deliver technologies, services and products that drive human progress forward.
We welcome you to join our mission, to make a difference on a grand scale and play a pivotal role with a global team at Sword– working alongside great people pioneering novel products and cutting edge technologies.
We are seeking a VP or SVP (dep. on experience) of People, to partner with the VP of Recruiting, to guide Sword’s people function teams on a global basis, reporting to the SVP of New Verticals (see background here).
This role will have leadership over the employee lifecycle post offer - from on-boarding to learning and leadership development, performance management, HR business partnerships, HR compliance, total rewards, and (depending on profile) people systems. At the same time, this leader will have to roll up their sleeves and help build the infrastructure that enables Sword Health to grow rapidly over the next several years, after setting a clear vision for HR and employee experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Balance building and operating at the same time - we are growing fast and need team members who can drive the strategy and make things happen
- Build and develop diverse, high functioning HRBP, People Operations, People Analytics, and Total Rewards teams.
- Collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition to ensure seamless people & culture operations and employee experience to build a representative team at Sword
- Support cross-functional executive leaders on people topics to help deliver business outcomes while remaining compliant globally
- Support employees in operating in line with Sword’s values in a flexible work environment
- In partnership with finance, establish a go-forward compensation & total rewards strategy that spans diverse employee profiles from hardware engineers to physical therapists to support staff across multiple countries
- Identify and implement people metrics and analytics to measure the HR team’s effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
- Scale programs related to onboarding, talent management, and offboarding, working to reduce manual work wherever possible in favor of product-first approach
- Drive a performance culture in line with Sword’s values through effective performance management and professional development.
- Partner with an HR product & systems leader to design and implement technical solutions that increase employee and manager self-service. For the right candidate, this work could roll-in.

In addition, they will have worked in multiple HR disciplines (at least two of the following: HRBP, People Ops, L&D, Total Rewards, and Product & Systems). They will have experience in global HR operations, with country expertise (Portugal and Brazil a plus). They will be data-driven and technically savvy.
