POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Financial and Business Operations Manager creates operational processes and financial strategies that the department will employ engaging other departments to determine best practices from a university-wide perspective. The incumbent understands the implications that decisions and strategies have on the Real Estate Department as well as the entire university. The Financial and Business Operations Manager is a strategist and implementor. Problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues /problems without precedent and / or structure. Uses advanced professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels.
The Financial and Business Operations Manager provides direct support to the Senior Director, Financial and Business Operations, and Real Estate on a wide range of assignments, including budget preparation and monitoring, cost management, contract tracking, project and transaction fund management, and regulatory compliance. Manages programs that include formulating strategies of efficient and reliable financial management practices and standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and timely preparation of department and real estate portfolio budgets, financial projections, cost accounting and compliance reporting.
The incumbent is a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field of accounting and recognized expertise in specific areas of invoicing, collection, receipt, and reconciliation of real estate related funds. They are responsible for the development and management of fiscal compliance program for the University's real estate portfolio of projects managed by Real Estate as Landlord and Licensor/Licensee.
Functions with a high degree of autonomy in performing analyses of unique issues, interpretation of real estate contracts and preparing complex reports summarizing real property contract obligations, compliance, cash flow, expenses debt, and fund distribution. Independently prepares complex reports summarizing real property contract obligations, compliance, cash flow, expenses, debt, and fund distribution.
Drafts and prepares proposals, contracts, correspondence, and financial analysis for real property transactions. Manages the financial approval process for real property transactions. Uses Oracle Financial Cloud and Concur. Administers policies and processes of Real Estate financial accounting. Prepare and track department consulting contracts and internal Work Orders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Advanced knowledge of accounting policies, practices and systems.
In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups. Understanding of the diversity and inclusivity goals of the Department and Campus with the skills and abilities to contribute toward meeting and exceeding those goals.
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $71,000 - $160,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $34.00 - $76.63
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
