Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC, is recruiting for a full-time Psychiatrist with dual boarding in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry to work in a Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team (H-PACT) in the Mental Health outpatient setting.
Your salary and grade will be determined by the Professional Standards Board (PSB). The PSB is a peer review process. The PSB will review your individual qualifications, education, professional training/internship(s) and professional experience to determine the most appropriate salary and grade based on your individual accomplishments.

DUTIES:
The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston SC, is recruiting for a full time d ual boarded internist/ psychiatrist to work in the Mental Health outpatient setting at the Charleston VA Mental Health Clinic. The physician will predominantly work with a homeless population of Veterans in our H-PACT (Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team) Clinic. Because of the high rate of co-morbidity issues, the physician will provide psychiatric as well as primary care services for Veterans.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Requirements
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen of the United States (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g.)
Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine? The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice in any state, territory or commonwealth of the United States, District of Columbia.
English Language Proficiency : Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
First-Year Residency: Completed first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed. For a VA resident, the appropriate Deans Committee and Resident Review Board may recommend appointment on the basis of the candidate's acceptability for residency training. Approved residences are:
a. Those approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals, American Medical Association, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or
b. Other residences or their equivalents which the Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. The Board may determine that the residency requirement has been met if the candidate has completed 1 year of post-graduate education.
Physical Standards : Placement in this position is subject to meeting the physical requirements of this position. Pre-placement medical examination is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Board Certification in Internal Medicine AND Psychiatry
